Hawaii Pacific’s Elodie Busson was named the PacWest women’s tennis player of the year, the conference announced late Wednesday.
Busson, who also was named newcomer of the year, made the first team for singles and doubles. Her playing partner is Elisa Elhadj.
Making the second team for singles were HPU’s Elhadj and Mihoki Miyahara.
Hilo’s Anouk Van Hoek and Carmelle Joyner made the third team for doubles.
3 from Hawaii schools get double honors
Hawaii Hilo’s Vaclav Slezak and Alessandro Giuliato and Hawaii Pacific’s Valentine Masse were named to the All-PacWest men’s tennis first team for singles and doubles, the conference announced late Wednesday.
Masse, whose playing partner is Maxime Gayte, was also voted newcomer of the year.
The Vulcans’ Martin Soukal was voted freshman of the year.
Soukal and Gayte made the second team, while the Sharks’ Benjamin Loccisano, Cheng-Chieh Wang and Ondrej Ctverak were named to the third team.
In doubles, HPU’s Lukas Bauer and Wang made the second team, while Hilo’s Soukal and Chun En Wu were picked to the third team.
Sharks baseball team falls on road to Biola
Jordan Mopas went 3-for-5 with a triple, home run and three RBIs, but the Hawaii Pacific baseball team lost to Biola 7-6 on Thursday in La Mirada, Calif.
Christian Kapeliela and Jake Selco both scored twice for the Sharks (20-23, 7-18 PacWest).
The Eagles (22-15, 13-12) scored three runs in the eighth inning to take a 7-5 lead.
