The Rotary Club and Mayor Kirk Caldwell should think about having the Centennial Park Waikiki become a dog park.

Plans now are for a gated park, locked down at night, that will serve Rotary members who will wander through it while extolling the historical virtues of the Rotary Club.

If it was an off-leash dog park, whether privately or publicly owned, dogs and owners, and volunteers, would enjoy their own space.

All dog parks require that users pick up after their dogs so that all park users can enjoy a clean, safe environment.

Dogs are everywhere, and good dog parks are necessary. A park designed for the Rotary Club, not so much.
