Academy of Art won both games of Tuesday’s Pacific West Conference softball doubleheader by scores of 2-0 and 7-3 at Howard A. Okita Field.
In Game 1, the Urban Knights scored single runs in the third and seventh innings. In the circle, Hannah Rose Balke recorded a three-hit shutout.
Hawaii Pacific scored three runs in the fourth inning of the second game to tie it up at 3, but the Urban Knights scored the go-ahead run in the sixth inning and plated three insurance runs in the seventh. Celena New and Brenna Youngquist each drove in two runs for Academy of Art (13-10 overall, 9-4 PacWest). For the Sharks (27-22, 18-12), Brandi Leong had two of HPU’s five hits.
HPU and Academy of Art finish up their four-game series with another doubleheader today beginning at 1 p.m. at Howard A. Okita Field in Kaneohe.
