Mililani man charged after cockfighting raid on Big Isle
Prosecutors charged a Mililani man in connection with a cockfight raid on Hawaii island.
Lylle M. Salcedo, 39, was charged with two counts of second-degree cruelty to animals. He was released on his own recognizance.
Officers of the Hawaii Police Department’s Area I Vice Section executed a search warrant at the cockfight in a remote location off of Highway 240 in Honokaa just after 10:50 a.m. on March 30.
Officers arrested Salcedo after they conducted a search of his rental vehicle and recovered two injured chickens, according to a police news release. Officers also seized nearly $8,000 in cash from him.
Salcedo has a criminal record of misdemeanor cruelty to animals and petty misdemeanor gaff prohibited.
