What stores do Hawaii people love to bring back omiyage from when they go traveling? I think so da top three used to be Trader Joe’s, Ikea and Daiso. But maybe we going have to cross Daiso off that list now that Hawaii get two. After opening its first Hawaii store in Pearl City late last year, Daiso opened a second store Thursday at 1024 Piikoi St. Daiso stay known for affordable household goods, so maybe I shouldn’t be surprised that all da cool items I found wuz only $1.50 each. Special Projects Manager Gary Furukawa assured me they going have these five items in stock at da town location today, but quantities going be limited!
1. Super knowledgable merchandise expert Joel Kutaka from Daiso told me this soft clay is one of their most popular items. Da ting so popular they had for put one limit on how much of this people can buy. I figure hobbyists use this clay for sculpting, cuz it comes hard when you dry it. But still I wondered whyzit so desirable. Are there really that many people out there who wanna make Gumby and all his friends? Das when Joel informed me that lotta parents buy this for their kids to use as one of da ingredients in making something called butter slime. I no even know what that is, but I feel like I gotta find out now. Lol.
2. The shoyu spritzer is great for people who gotta watch their salt intake. With this little gadget, instead of pouring too much shoyu all over your food, you can spray just one little bit for taste. My favorite part is how da spray bottle’s kinda shaped like one mini shoyu bottle. So kawaii. Shoyu not included.
3. I get super hard time doing watercolor painting cuz I always put too much water on my brush, so my artwork comes all runny. I thought wuz genius when watercolor pencils wuz invented, but I still struggled brushing it with water later. Das why I think this water color brush pen is so awesome. You can use your watercolor pencils, then go over ’em with this. You just fill this pen with water and be amazed at how easy it is for control da special brush tip. Great tool for da aspiring artist or even those who already get pro-style.
4. Eh, wea da spoon went?! For me, whenever I eat my saimin or ramen, da spoon always wants for slide down and disappear into da steaming hot broth. Das why I thought this noodle soup spoon with special handle is so cleverly designed. It has one notch on da handle so you can rest ’em on da lip of da bowl. Your spoon never going hide from you again! Comes in a pack of five.
5. Trust me, this is so neato mosquito! If you look around Daiso long enough, you bound for find something wild or wacky. And you should always look good, cuz sometimes it’s not super obvious. Like I noticed this fly swatter had this attachment that came out from da handle. So I wuz all like, What da heck is this part for? Das when I realized it’s one tweezer. So after you swat da fly, you can use da tweezer for pick up da dead body! This ting made me buss laugh.
