Inmate mistakenly freed by OCCC is located
The Department of Public Safety announced tonight that the Department of Health has located a 26-year-old inmate mistakenly released Friday from the Oahu Community Correctional Center.
Public Safety issued a news release this afternoon saying that law enforcement personnel were searching for Joseph Morauski.
Public Safety officials determined sometime after his release that Morauski should have been given over to the custody of the Department of Health. Instead he posted bail and was freed Friday.
The Department of Public Safety is investigating the circumstances surrounding his release.
Morauski was in custody on pretrial misdemeanor and petty misdemeanor charges, including resisting an order to stop a motor vehicle, reckless driving and fourth-degree criminal property damage.
No details on how he was found and what facility he is being detained at were provided.
