Families are welcome to join Hawai‘i Watercolor Society members as they teach watercolor techniques and guide visitors through making their own paintings, Saturday at the Hawai‘i State Art Museum. The hands-on, all-ages activity is part of the museum’s monthly event, Second Saturdays at HiSAM.
“Second Saturdays are an opportunity (for parents and their children) to spend quality time together,” said Mamiko K. Carroll, public information officer at the State Foundation on Culture and the Arts. “Everyone learns something new while having fun.”
Participants can drop in at any time during the activity hours and expect about 30 minutes to complete the project.
“Even if you’ve never held a paintbrush before, you’ll go home with your very own work of art,” Carroll said.
And there’s a bonus.
“The museum will also be open (10 a.m.-4 p.m.) on the second floor, where you can see some of the best contemporary art from across the state,” she said.
