Our ethically challenged City Council is about to embark on one of its worst decisions: increasing the senior citizen annual bus fare by $10, taking a precious $10 out of our senior citizens’ meager pockets. Many are on insufficient Social Security or small pensions. Those $10 may pay for some needed medicine. Now forego that. Get sick.
The best mayor we have ever had, Frank Fasi, eliminated that charge entirely.
“We owe that to our seniors,” he said. “They have done so much for us.”
Reduce the charge by $10 every year. There will be no dent in the city budget. None. Zero. But senior citizens will be much relieved.
