Bellator women’s flyweight world champion Ilima-Lei Macfarlane will defend her belt for the third time against Veta Arteaga on April 27 in San Jose, Calif., the organization announced Saturday.
Macfarlane (9-0, 8-0 Bellator) will only have a four-month layoff between fights after submitting Valerie Letourneau in December at Blaisdell Arena.
The fight will serve as the co-main event, with a welterweight grand prix tournament quarterfinal between champion Rory Macdonald and Jon Fitch, the headliner.
Arteaga is 5-2 (4-2 Bellator) and has won her last two fights.
UH tops No. 5 Arizona State in water polo
Senior attacker Irene Gonzalez scored four goals and the seventh-ranked Hawaii water polo team beat No. 5 Arizona State 10-7 at Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex on Saturday.
Senior Femke Aan added two scores for the Rainbow Wahine (4-0), who are off to their best start since 2010.
After the Sun Devils (1-1) scored early in the fourth quarter to tie the game at 7, the Wahine got goals from Carla Abellan, Carmen Baringo and Maxine Schaap to close it out.
“I’m happy but never satisfied,” UH coach Maureen Cole said. “I think we had a pretty shaky week of practice following the wins last week. I was kind of on them all week and I think they responded well when the score was 7-7.”
Black sets Wahine record in 60m
Hawaii senior Raion Black set a school record in the preliminary heat of the 60-meter dash on Saturday’s final day of the University of Washington Invitational track and field meet at Dempsey Indoor Stadium in Seattle.
