I strongly support and recommend passing of Senate Bill 238 to lawfully carry concealed firearms. While the qualifications and conditions are numerous — including thorough background checks — prohibitions against certain criminals to qualify, and minimal application fees, it is high time in Hawaii that we recognize that police officers cannot be with us at all times.
While I accept that crime rates are reported to be low, I’m also convinced that our criminal justice system is simply overwhelmed. I readily accept the responsibility and associated accountability to protect myself, loved ones and my property from ruthless, violent thieves, assailants and murderers, including the use of deadly force. I most humbly, respectfully, and strongly support passing of this critical public safety legislation.
