If it’s U.S. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard’s decision to run for president, so be it. However, her political advisers should be arrested for political malpractice because, for a variety of reasons, the pundits give her zero chance of being elected.
My problem is that Gabbard announced her decision less than two weeks after being sworn in for her latest term in the U.S. House, to which she recently was re-elected.
So now we have one of our two representatives devoting the majority of her time over the next year, and maybe even longer, to run for president instead of attending to Hawaii’s and the country’s business.
If she wants to run she should do it. But she shouldn’t punish Hawaii by giving us a part-time member of the House.
I call for her to resign immediately and propose that the Democratic leadership in Hawaii call for this also.
Then the governor can appoint someone who will be a full-time member of the Hawaii contingent to look after our state’s issues in Washington, D.C.
