Hawaii Rainbow Wahine forward Leah Salanoa went to pass the ball on Thursday against the CSUN Matadors.

This was not the follow-up to a rousing win that the Hawaii women’s basketball team hoped for.

The Rainbow Wahine were held to 22.2 percent shooting in a 49-29 loss to Cal State Northridge today at the Stan Sheriff Center, narrowly avoiding breaking the program’s all-time scoring low of 25 points against California back in 1977.

The Wahine (5-11, 1-2 Big West) stunned defending champion UC Davis 65-60 on Saturday, but their accuracy was not up to the task against another Big West contender in CSUN (8-9, 2-1).

Two-time Big West player of the year Channon Fluker came off the bench for the Matadors to register 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Four players scored five points to share high scoring honors for the Wahine.
