Let the new year festivities continue with a lion dance, taiko drum performance and more at Bank of Hawaii Family Sunday — Bring the Noise, Sunday at Honolulu Museum of Art.
“Kicking off 2019, this month’s Bank of Hawaii Family Sunday will be a vibrant cross-cultural experience for families to celebrate the new year,” said Kathleen Wong, communications manager at the museum.
Highlights include performances by Taiko Center of the Pacific and Gee Yun International Martial Arts Dragon & Lion Dance Association, and an art activity inspired by the Chinese New Year and the Year of the Pig with the Associated Chinese University Women.
Children will also be able to “bring the noise” by creating a small noisemaking piece of art — a drum, tambourine or whistle.
In conjunction with the event, the museum also holds a free Family Day at its Spalding House in Makiki Heights. There will be storytelling and a sewing circle. Take a free shuttle bus that runs between the locations to enjoy both events.
