Tulsi Gabbard held a press conference on the side of Honolulu Hale to announce that she is resigning from the Honolulu City Council effective immediately, a move that likely will save the city the $150,000 cost of needing to hold a special election to replace her. She won the Democratic primary for Hawaii’s 2nd Congressional District seat and faces little known Republican Kawika Crowley of Hilo in the Nov. 6 general election.
