In what should be required viewing for all citizens, not just political junkies, ‘Olelo Community Media will launch its “Live at the Legislature” show on Monday at 8:30 a.m. The weekly half-hour show will air at that time on Mondays (Tuesday if a holiday falls on Monday) until the Legislature adjourns in May; the session convenes Wednesday.
“Live at the Legislature” will focus on issues and legislation, with lawmakers appearing weekly to offer perspectives. It will air on Olelo’s channel 49, with live-streaming on www.olelo.org/49 and the Olelo Facebook page. Shows later will be posted on www.youtube.com/olelocm and on the Hawaii Government Public Network Channel 50.
Another Market Place makeover
No matter how carefully artists’ renderings are drawn and models are built, sometimes you can’t tell how something is going to turn out until it’s there, in place and at 100-percent scale. That is what the redeveloped International Market Place has discovered. The ultra-fancy center with its entryway fountain, age 2, is already positioned for tweaking.
The entryway needs to invite more foot traffic, say the merchants. And surely there are other challenges: Competition is tight for the high-end shoppers who can afford the inventory. But let’s see if moving the water feature helps.
