I’m sorry for Leigh Prentiss’ rude experience (“Locals don’t like illegal fireworks,” Star-Advertiser, Letters, Jan. 3), but what is happening in our national politics is causing many otherwise good-natured local folks to become increasingly sensitized to the non-local influences that we deal with every day.
There is a huge elephant in the room that we cannot call by name but which is a large reason for the kind of negativity she experienced. This is the natural fallout of the negativity we’re getting from President Donald Trump, whose insults and disrespect are corrupting our entire way of life.
What she experienced is, sadly, just one small tip of an iceberg of resentment and discontent that Trump’s attitude and actions continue to feed.
