New Year’s Eve was an ear-shattering, eye-watering, throat-burning eight-hour ordeal perpetrated by the resident bullies and their friends from one house in our neighborhood.
The following morning we spent two hours cleaning our roof, solar panels, yard and pool. Our cat has disappeared, again.
We called the police when the bombardment began in the afternoon. It had no noticeable effect.
It is inconceivable that this quantity of illegal heavy munitions can so easily land on Oahu. It’s clear there’s an organized importation and distribution system. Where are the interdiction and enforcement efforts? Why do our politicians and bureaucrats hide behind the “cultural” excuse? It is way beyond any culturally appropriate activity.
It is truly time to stop what Brian Yamane aptly termed “domestic terrorism” (“Bomb Opens in a new tab zones fit for fireworks Opens in a new taboffenders Opens in a new tab,” Star-Advertiser, Letters, Jan. 1).
