Firefighters responded to a fire at a home in Palolo today.

The Honolulu Fire Department responded to a single-story house fire in Palolo this afternoon.

Thirty-nine firefighters responded a blaze at 1921 9th Ave. with the first unit arriving 1:06 p.m., said Battalion Chief Bryan Soares. Hawaiian Electric Co. workers also arrived to cut power to the home, he said.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze at 2:21 p.m.

A male resident was treated by EMS and taken to the hospital. No other injuries were reported.

HFD is investigating the cause of the fire as well as an estimated cost of damages.

Police have closed 9th Avenue between Kalua and Kiwila streets as crews continue to work in the area. Drivers are advised to use alternative routes.
