Cause of 30-acre brush fire on Hawaii island undetermined
Hawaii County firefighters battled a 30-acre brush fire on open land Friday afternoon in Kailua-Kona.
Twenty firefighters responded to a 1.5-acre brush fire on Kauhola Street with the first unit arriving on the scene at 2:11 p.m. The fire continued to burn on open land and eventually grew to 30 acres.
Firefighters extinguished the fire at 5:30 p.m. with the assistance a bulldozer and helicopter dousing the fire with water.
The estimated cost of damage and cause of the fire has yet to be determined. No injuries were reported.
