City crews will install a locally harvested, 80-foot Norfolk pine tree on the front lawn of Honolulu Hale on South King Street this morning.
Olomana School in Kailua donated the Norfolk pine, estimated to be more than 40 years old, to share with residents and visitors this holiday season. It will serve as the centerpiece for the annual Honolulu City Lights celebration which opens on Saturday, Dec. 1 at Honolulu Hale, with a tree lighting ceremony, electric light parade, photos with Santa and rides.
Over the next two weeks, city crews will decorate the tree with lights and ornaments in preparation for the annual celebration, which returns for its 34th year to downtown Honolulu.
