Kapolei girl, 14, turns herself in to police after starting fire in her house

A 14-year-old girl turned herself in to police after she allegedly set fire to items in her home in Kapolei early Thursday.

Police said the juvenile set fire to miscellaneous items in a stairwell of the residence at approximately 3:30 a.m. A male family member discovered the fire and extinguished it.

Multiple occupants were in the home at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported.

Police said the girl fled the home but turned herself in to police several hours later.

Police arrested her on suspicion of first-degree arson.
