The U.S. Senate’s Judiciary Committee hearings, limited FBI investigation, and subsequent U.S. Senate confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh to the U.S. Supreme Court are a prime example of one of Mahatma Gandhi’s seven sins: “politics without principles.”
If you apply Gandhi’s list to our current president, he fails in most, if not all, categories. His legacy or worth to our nation should not be determined by just how well our economy is doing or by how many people he places on the Supreme Court.
If he fails on any of the principles listed below — and he has — he diminishes the status of the office of the president and our nation ultimately suffers. This is already evident as we witness a nation that is becoming divided, heartless and morally corrupt under his leadership — or, rather, lack of leadership.
Gandhi’s list of seven sins: wealth without work; pleasure without conscience; knowledge without character; commerce without morality; science without humanity; worship without sacrifice; politics without principles.
