Prescott S. Kesi, accused of shooting a man in the head at
a Kalihi game room on Sunday, made his initial appearance in Honolulu District Court Wednesday on charges of second-degree attempted murder and two firearm offenses.
Court documents said Kesi,
35, entered the establishment
at 1720 Kalani St. at approximately 10:40 p.m. Sunday and
approached a 28-year-old man who was playing on one of the gaming machines. Kesi reportedly yelled at the man and
struck him on the head with a handgun.
Police said that as the two men wrestled, two shots were fired, wounding the victim, who was transported to The Queen’s
Medical Center in critical condition.
Court documents said a bouncer disarmed Kesi before
he fled in a black pickup truck. Police arrested Kesi at approximately 1:30 a.m. Monday after he turned himself in at the Pearl City police station.
His criminal record includes driving without a license and
harassment, both petty misdemeanors.
Kesi’s bail is set at $500,000.
