Regarding the sexual assault accusation against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, U.S. Sen. Mazie Hirono said, “I just want to say to the men in this country: Just shut up and step up.”

Hirono is not just embarrassing herself, but the entire state of Hawaii, as well as denigrating through political perfidy the Kavanaugh hearing and the entire #metoo women’s initiative, which has been producing some positive results. This type of behavior does not make our country better. It weakens our country in the most insidious way imaginable.
