South Korean football coach Park Hang-seo has become a celebrity in Vietnam. Park is the head coach for Vietnam’s national football team and the country’s national under-23 football team.
Park recently took the Vietnamese national team to new heights placing in its first-ever showing in the quarter finals at the recent Asian Games. The team lost to South Korea. His Vietnamese under-23 national team finished second in the 2018 AFC U-23 Championship.
Vietnamese fans call him the “Wizard,” while South Koreans have nicknamed him “Ssal-dink,” which means Rice Noodle Hiddink. (Coach Guus Hiddink took the Korean national football team to its first semi-finals in the 2002 World Cup; Park was his assistant coach.)
