A crew finished patching the storefront at 7-Eleven in Hawaii Kai on Tuesday after a vehicle plunged through the window earlier that afternoon. Police dispatch said no one was critically injured in the crash at 515 Pepeekeo St. in Hahaione Valley.

Jedidiah Onza, 8, from Mililani Mauka 564, held a salute at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacifi c on Sunday. About 2,100 Scouts and adults from the Boy Scouts of America participated in the Memorial Day service, which featured keynote speaker Rear Adm. Bill Green and music by the Marine Corps Forces Pacifi c Band. After the ceremony an estimated 70 troops placed lei and flags on the 34,000 graves in the cemetery.

Charlie Lonborg, Myra Kayano and Nyla Boneza, eighth-grade students at Stevenson Middle School, 3-D-printed a prosthetic arm and fingers for Stevenson alumna Laura "Dutchy" Moffat- Cintron, who lost hers below the elbow. Above, Patricia Morgan, left, and Lonborg, right, helped Moffat-Cintron fit on the prosthetic Thursday as Kayano and Boneza, standing, observed. Creating the limb was among several science projects Morgan's students dreamed up to help their community. Moffat- Cintron said the student-made prosthesis is more comfortable and looks more natural than her $10,000 prosthesis.

Millie Akaka was in attendance Sunday as a mural was completed honoring her late husband, former U.S. Sen. Daniel Akaka, at Kaneohe Elementary School. A ceremony was also held. Artists Jeff Kaneta of Playground Art Crew and Lauren Hana Chai and Lauren Okumoto of Pena People worked to paint the mural and invited those in attendance to "leave their mark" by adding handprints to it.

Retired Army Maj. Gen. Antonio Taguba on Sunday presented 94-year-old World War II veteran Domingo Los Banos with a bronze replica of the Congressional Gold Medal in the Coral Ballroom at the Hilton Hawaiian Village where a ceremony was held to celebrate Filipino WWII veterans. Los Banos is one of more than 260,000 Filipino and Filipino-American veterans of WWII who were collectively honored for their bravery with the nation's highest civilian award by Congress nearly 75 years after the conclusion of the war.

Lei Queen Charlene Leimomi Irvine performed Monday at the Kapiolani Park Bandstand. The theme of the 91st annual Lei Day was "Lei 'Alohi Kea," a brilliant white lei representing the platinum of kupuna. The fi rst Lei Day was celebrated in 1927, with the fi rst queen crowned in 1928.
