Maui County seeks help identifying vehicle vandal
Maui County officials are asking for the public’s help in identifying an unknown suspect who punctured the tires of at least 19 vehicles early Thursday morning in Wailuku.
Most of the vehicles were parked on the Kaohu Street side of the parking lot of the Kalana O Maui County building, located at 200 South High St. Security video shows the suspect pounding something into the tires to damage them.
“It was pouring rain this morning and this guy is running around in a raincoat and in many cases puncturing all four tires of each vehicle he hit,” said Maui County Communication Director Rod Antone. “According to the video he was working quickly while it was still dark out, but we’re hoping someone can help police identify him.”
Video footage captured the suspect damaging county vehicle tires at around 5:30 a.m.
Witnesses may contact the Maui Police Department’s non-emergency line at 244-6400 and leave a message.
