Another new condominium tower has opened
in Kakaako as the wave of
development continues to break over the urban Honolulu area.
The developer of Anaha at Ward Village held a private blessing Wednesday to celebrate completion of the 38-story tower after about two years of construction.
The first residents began moving in Monday, and move-ins will continue through the end of the year, according to the tower’s
developer, Howard Hughes Corp.
About 307 of the tower’s 317 units are sold.
Anaha is the second condo tower completed by Texas-based Hughes Corp., which has a master plan to develop 16 towers spread over 60 acres at Ward Village that used to be known as Ward Centers. The first Ward Village tower was Waiea, which opened late last year.
“The completion of Anaha is a proud moment for our community — we are seeing the vision of a vibrant lifestyle become reality,” said Todd Apo, the company’s vice president of community development in Hawaii.
Hughes Corp. has two other towers under construction, Ae‘o and Ke Kilohana. The developer also has said it is preparing to start building two more
towers called Gateway
Cylinder and A‘ali‘i.
At Anaha, where the average unit price is about
$1.2 million, amenities include a pool that partly overhangs the street and has a view of the ocean, a fitness center, tennis court, beach volleyball court, library, movie theater, private dining rooms, a putting green, a dog park and keiki play area. A Merriman’s restaurant will be an anchor tenant, and work on the eatery on the ground floor has begun.
Besides Ward Village towers, other condo high-rises that have opened in the last year or so include The Collection, Symphony Honolulu and 801 South St. The next tower opening is expected to be Keauhou Place later this month.
