Nighttime closure of H-1 westbound in Kapolei planned
A portion of the westbound H-1 Freeway in the Kapolei area will be closed from 10 p.m. Thursday to 5 a.m. Friday, according to the state Department of Transportation.
The closure between the Makakilo Drive and Kalaeloa Boulevard overpasses is necessary to mobilize a crane in the median to set column cages as part of the Kapolei Interchange Complex, Phase 2 project, DOT officials said.
Westbound motorists on H-1 will be directed to Makakilo Drive via the Makakilo/Kapolei/Kalaeloa Off-Ramp, Exit 2, and can continue on Farrington Highway/Kamokila Boulevard, Wakea Street, and the Farrington Highway on-ramp to return to the westbound freeway, they said.
From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, the left, eastbound lane of H-1 Freeway between Laaloa Street and the Farrington Highway Overpass will also be closed.
