Hawaiian Electric Co. said Wednesday it built a new electric vehicle fast-charger station in front of Max’s of Manila across the parking lot from the Costco in Iwilei.
A fast charger recharges a typical EV battery to 80 percent capacity in less than half an hour. HECO now owns and operates 12 fast chargers in its service territories.
Other EV chargers owned by HECO are at the Dole Plantation in Wahiawa, Koolau Center in Kaneohe, Kapolei Commons, 7-Eleven in Hawaii Kai, Waianae Mall and two at Hawaiian Electric’s Ward Avenue customer parking lot. Hawaii island has three and Maui has one.
HECO said it is seeking more sites to install EV chargers on Oahu and neighbor islands. HECO said the utility will operate the equipment at no cost to the site owner for installation, maintenance or electricity.
The state Public Utilities Commission approved plans for the utility to install up to 25 fast chargers.
Disney networks may cut costs 10 percent
Walt Disney Co., under pressure to improve profit at its TV business, is considering spending cuts of as much as 10 percent at its Disney/ABC Television Group, according to a person familiar with the plans.
The moves could include job reductions, although no final decisions have been made, according to the person, who asked not be identified because the discussions are private.
Disney’s networks, the source of almost half the company’s profit in fiscal 2016, have lost viewers and subscribers to online options such as Netflix and YouTube.
The division includes Disney’s kids channels and the ABC broadcast network, not its ESPN sports business.
