No tsunami threat to Hawaii following New Zealand earthquake
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center confirmed that there is no tsunami threat to Hawaii following a magnitude-6.8 earthquake about 122 miles northwest of Auckland Island in New Zealand.
The report issued by the center shortly after the quake at 9 p.m. tonight stated that “a destructive Pacific-wide tsunami is not expected and there is no tsunami threat to Hawaii.”
