Honolulu will bathe in the celestial glow of four passing satellites this week if the clouds cooperate.
Two of the flares will occur early in the morning and two in the evening.
Just before 5:39 a.m. Tuesday, the Iridium-18 satellite will reflect bright sunlight from its antennas as it appears above the northeastern horizon. Venus will be above the constellation Orion in the east.
At 4:46 a.m. Thursday, the Iridium-82 satellite will flare low in the eastern sky, with Venus slightly higher and to the left.
Just before 7:35 p.m. Thursday, Iridium-64 will flash in the northern sky, almost directly between the North Star and the pointers of the Big Dipper. Jupiter will be high in the southwest.
And at 7:28 p.m. Friday, Iridium-67 will flare in almost precisely the same spot. The latter two will be the brightest.
