Women who love to get dolled up for girls’ nights out might love Audrey Hepburn Night, being staged by Kailua establishment A Cup of Tea this Saturday.
“Some of our ladies, they love to dress in their black dresses with pearls and hats, and some people wear gloves,” said owner Darlene Pahed. “We do this maybe once a year or so.”
The night may be special, but Hepburn is an inspiration to the Windward tea house year-round. A Cup of Tea even has a regular menu called Lady Tiffany’s, which can be taken as a nod to “Breakfast at Tiffany’s,” one of Hepburn’s most famous and influential movies.
On Saturday evening, the Lady Tiffany menu will be served buffet-style and will include a soup and salad, assorted tea sandwiches, a freshly baked scone with preserves or lemon curd, seasonal fresh fruit, a dessert and, of course, freshly steeped tea.

The Victorian tea room and boutique does not serve alcohol, but allows customers to bring their own bottles of choice and does not assess a corkage fee, Pahed said.
In addition to the opportunity to wear pretty clothes and eat delicious food, would-be sophisticates can also get beauty tips at the event. The Nordstrom Beauty Team will be on hand to present the latest in skin care by Clarins, eye makeup and lipstick trends by French beauty and skin care company Nars Cosmetics, and an eyebrow clinic.
Free parking will be available at the neighboring physicians’ office building, on Uluniu Street between Walgreens and the tea room. “For our customers at night, it’s OK,” Pahed said. Free street parking also may be available.
Want to visit another time, to sample the Tiffany’s menu? A Cup of Tea is open for lunch only, Tuesdays through Fridays, with the last seating generally at 2:30 p.m.
