To help meet this goal, the public has several opportunities to donate their pre-made lei and share their lei-making skills or materials. At Honolulu Hale, the City hosted its annual Sew a Lei for Memorial Day event. During the event, people dropped off fresh flowers or lei (measuring 22” to 24” in length) and/or attended lessons on how to make lei, and helped to make lei. This is the 2017 Lei Queen, Puamohala Kaholokula dancing a hula for the volunteers who are making lei at Honolulu Hale.

The 12th Annual Daikon Festival at the Honbushin International Center in Mililani offered families the opportunity to dig up daikon, sample different daikon dishes, and participate in the community festival built on gratitude. Honolulu Police Department uniformed offi cers walked in formation Monday from HPD's Alapai Street headquarters toward the state Capitol as they marked National Police Week 2017 with a Remembrance Walk. They were joined by community leaders, Mayor Kirk Caldwell and other city offi cials and guests including family members for a memorial service for fallen offi cers at the Capitol.

More than 2100 students are excepted to participate. Due to overcrowding concerns, UH is splitting the graduation into two ceremonies based on the college or school awarding students degrees.

UFCH Miss Teen Hawaii Filipina Sharon Rose Paul waited for the Sunduan promenade to begin at the 25th Annual Filipino Fiesta held at Kapiolani Regional Park on Saturday. Sunduan is derived from the word “sundo,” which means to fetch, and is a courtship tradition where Filipinas bedecked in finery and parasols are escorted to the town center by their beaus in a show of chivalry.
