Hawaii ranks fourth in all-time AVCA All-America certificates beginning in 1981, when there were only six players honored, including Rainbow Wahine Nahaku Brown and Deitre Collins. That 1981 Wahine team (37-2) was ranked No. 1 before being upset in the regional final by eventual champion USC in the inaugural NCAA tournament.
The All-America team was expanded to 12 players in 1982.
In 1984, a 12-player second team was added, and in 2002, a 12-player third team was added.
In 2008, each team was expanded to 14 players.
The following list represents Rainbow Wahine who have made AVCA first, second and third teams, as well as those who were selected All-America by the Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women.
The AIAW preceded the NCAA, which did not sponsor women’s sports until 1981.
