Kilauea found to expel debris from eons ago

A fountain of lava erupted from Kilauea Iki crater on Dec. 5, 1959. Two rock samples from this eruption contain geochemical anomalies that could date back 4.5 billion years, shortly after Earth first formed. Rock samples from that era were also found during the December 1959 eruption.
