Flynn apologizes to Pence over Russia controversy

ASSOCIATED PRESS

National Security Adviser Michael Flynn was in the east Room of the White House in Washington, today, for a joint news conference with President Donald Trump and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

WASHINGTON >> White House national security adviser Michael Flynn has apologized to Vice President Mike Pence for the controversy surrounding his discussions with the Russian ambassador to the U.S., an administration official says.

Pence said in televised interviews that Flynn had not discussed sanctions during his pre-inauguration calls with the Russian envoy. Flynn has since told the White House that sanctions may have come up.

Administration officials have said Pence was relying on information from Flynn.

The official was not authorized to discuss the matter publicly and insisted on anonymity.

Flynn has apologized so there is nothing more to be said by the Trump administration. End of story.
Flynn should stay on as he did nothing wrong. His mistake was not being more forthcoming about his casual discussion with the Russian ambassador to the US on the issue of sanctions.
The drive by media is still trying to push the narrative that Russian and Putin had a hand in influencing the Presidential election for which there is no proof
and is a ridiculous claim especially since those pushing this narrative have never presented just how specifically the Russians and Putin managed
    to do what they claim.

Flynn broke the law and needs to step down or be fired. He played Pence for a fool and embarrassed Trump’s very troubled administration. “Generals” like him are a dime a dozen in Hawaii and elsewhere. They hang around offering their unsought opinion and “expertise.” Hanging around is what he was doing and should still be doing.

      • honupono says:

        I agree. Liar.

      • kuroiwaj says:

IRT Allie, don’t jump the gun on LTG Flynn. He apologized for creating all this current media noise, but we still don’t know what was discussed or if anything was said about the Russian sanctions prior to President Trump being sworn in. There will be more information put forward in the future. Have some patients and let’s see what comes out and by whom.

What a phony. Similar to apologizing “if I hurt anyone’s feelings”. Bottom line – fish rots from the head down.

    • aaronavilla says:

it isn’t treason if you say sorry!

Trump loves Flynn. Trump has a strong relationship with Putin. Many of Trump’s campaign aides, business partners and his son Donald Jr have been meeting with the Russians. Trump’s original campaign manager, Paul Manafort, was an adviser to the ex-pro Russian President of the Ukraine and had received millions from the Russians. Carter Page, one of Trump’s campaign advisers had numerous meetings with the Russians. Donald Trump Jr. has said the Trump organization does a huge amount of business with the Russians. Flynn, also sat next to Putin during a banquet held for the main state run television station months before the election. Rex Tillerson, now Secretary of State, appointed by Trump, was CEO of Exxon Mobil, which has a $500 billion deal with Putin and the Russian oil giant Rosneft. Rex was awarded “the Order of Friendship by Putin. Putin wants Donald left the oil and gas trade sanctions imposed on Russia after it invaded the Ukraine and annexed Crimea. This explains Trump’s praise of Putin, and his desire not to upset Putin and the Russians. And why Putin and the Russians wanted to see Trump elected. Then Russia the oil and gas companies in this country can drill and sell as much oil and gas, and make Putin, Russia, Trump and the oil and gas industries Great and immensely wealthy and powerful again.

      • Vector says:

Meant to say ” Putin wants Donald to lift the oil and gas trade sanctions”

      • hywnsytl says:

Vector, GOP and all the 24%of america who voted for drumpf don’t care, just as long as he is white , male, and says USA will be the best, regardless if it is true and regardless if america suffers. Trump voters are oblivious to any other reality.

That’s right only 24% voted for him not the majority, reason is only half of america voted.

      • allie says:

Putin could not care less about Flynn. He is a flunkie. Trump is a weak flunkie compared to Putin. Russian just howl with laughter at this administration.

    • Dai says:

IRT fiveo..you seem to dismiss this kind of action with this administration but not with the former?
This communication was held before the inauguration. Therefore, Flynn was not in any capacity to discuss sanctions or any actions that the new POTUS might undertake. Unless, it was with Mr. Trumps blessings.
Casual discussions? When you think about the impact of the sanctions and the enormous financial impact it caries. It’s hard to think of the sanctions and the discussions about it as “casual”.
So if the discussions were :casual” Flynn should have no problems detailing what they talked about. Right? Bet you’re not going to hear any thing about it. Then again, some of the calls were recorded. This is why Flynn is now coming clean about the “casual discussions” he had with the Russian….but he is preparing his defense by saying he doesn’t remember what they talked about. The recordings should jog his memory but who knows. Trump will protect him.

Caught them in the act! They’re making FAKE NEWS!

Everyone repeat: The Trump Administration is making up FAKE NEWS! FAKE NEWS! FAKE NEWS!

      • Vector says:

This is another Trump Gang cover up. Trump, Pence, all knew about these conversations between Flynn and the Russian Ambassador Kyslyak. In fact they told Flynn what to say about lifting the sanctions against Russia, since Trump, Flynn, Pence, Paul Manafort (former Trump campaign chief), Carter Page, and Rex Tillerson, are all palsy whalsy with Putin and the Russians

    • roughrider says:

Sorry, fiveo. Looks like an apology wasn’t enough. Stay tuned.

  2. klastri says:

Mr. Flynn, obviously, cannot stay in his job. He’s a nut case who was fired from DIA for cause – making up what came to be known in the military as “Flynn Facts.”

He’s a danger to the United States. But presumably, he complemented Mr. Trump’s hairstyle or his tie today, so whatever felonies were committed are forgotten.

    • HawaiiCheeseBall says:

The dude lied to everyone, lied to the VP’s face. Ordinarily guys like this would be gone by now but this administration is different. The dude might actually survive this because loyalty goes a long way in this administration.

He knew better or should have known.
    Either way: Submit your resignation.

  5. 808comp says:

Trump needs to check on the people around him and don’t give them a job only because they were out pushing for him to become President. I think the next one to give him a head ache will be Conway.

  6. bleedgreen says:

I don’t know if you can have a “casual conversation” with the Russian Ambassador to the United States. Well, not unless you are a Russian diplomat. No, I take that back. If you are a Russian diplomat, all the red flags are waving to caution you about what you might say that might cause a tremor in the Kremlin. Flynn covered up what he discussed. For that he should be dismissed, but Trump won’t take that action this early in his administration. There will be a de’facto national security adviser until enough time will have transpired to announce a change.

    http://www.sfgate.com/technology/businessinsider/article/Trump-s-aides-appeared-to-brief-him-on-North-10928870.php

A paying member of President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida, took photos of the moment Trump and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe were surrounded by Trump aides during dinner to be briefed on North Korea’s missile test on Saturday. Trump’s National Security Adviser Michael Flynn and Chief Strategist Steve Bannon left their seats to huddle closer to Trump as documents were produced and phone calls were placed to officials in Washington and Tokyo, The patio was lit only with candles and moonlight, so aides used the camera lights on their phones to help the stone-faced Trump and Abe read through the documents.
The meeting was conducted in the open, in front of members of the club, with cellphone lights pointing toward sensitive documents.

But, but, but Hillary’s emails…….. GTFOH!!!!

  8. roughrider says:
