Auli‘i Cravalho, the Hawaii island teen who voiced the title character in the popular 2016 Disney movie “Moana,” was among local celebrities at the seventh annual Breakfast With the Bishop fundraiser at St. John Vianney School in Kailua.
A breakfast buffet was served after all three serv-ices Sunday in the church’s Parish Hall at 920 Keolu Drive to more than 500 people. Bishop Larry Silva of the Diocese of Honolulu spoke on the value of a Catholic education and the special role of parish schools.
Over $45,000 was raised for a new kindergarten building. More than $225,000 has been donated during the past seven breakfast events to renovate school facilities and offer new programs, a news release said. Photos are available at sjvkailua.org.
Other local celebrities who prepared and served pancakes included the Rev. Eric Bowman, chef Chai Chaowasaree, Miss Hawaii Allison Chu, Frank De Lima, Rob DeMello, Kapii DeMello, Lisa Kanove, Monsignor Gary Secor and Mihana Souza. Entertainment included the school’s hula halau and student bands, orchestras and choirs.
