Man gets probation for biting Hawaiian Airlines employee during flight

COURTESY HAWAIIAN AIRLINES

A Hawaiian Airlines Airbus A330. A man accused of biting a Hawaiian Airlines employee during a July flight from American Samoa to Hawaii is scheduled to be sentenced today for interfering with a flight crew.

A man accused of biting a Hawaiian Airlines flight attendant must serve three years of probation for interfering with a flight crew.

Aumoeualogo Agaaoa Togia pleaded guilty in September to interfering with a flight crew during a July flight from American Samoa to Hawaii. In exchange for the guilty plea, prosecutors agree to dismiss an assault charge.

U.S. District Judge Leslie Kobayashi said at the sentencing today that Togia was severely intoxicated when he became violent. She said his behavior created terror and fear, but she concluded that it wasn’t his typical behavior.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Margaret Nammar said Togia bit a male flight attendant’s hand.

Togia apologized, saying his behavior was unwarranted.

“Might have blacked out.” Yeah, alcohol does that to you sometimes. No fly list for you, buddy.

Nightmare flight. I suspect all attendants dread flights like this.

Yup, Hawaiian has a ban for life policy , will probably enforcement. Guy will have to go home via another carrier and enter Western Samoa to get to Pago Pago, the long way. Not uncommon for Hawaiian to put employees on a flight when ground crews are short handed in PPG.

Time to stop serving alcohol. This Sole’ had too much firewater for sure.

    • btaim says:

I agree. People are such addicts that they can’t wait until landing to ingest alcohol? Worse are the short flights between the Hawaiian islands where people just HAVE to drink alcohol because they can’t wait half an hour for completion of the flight. If you’re in such strong need of alcohol for that short duration, you have a big problem.

Terrible idea, I fly HA on 99% of my flights off these beautiful Islands. And yes I enjoy a glass or few on each flight. I am very grateful for the service I have had, and that is why I keep flying HA. Just bc one cannot handle them selves does not mean no body can enjoy a glass of their choice.
      Busybody non freedom fool!

      • saveparadise says:

Some people seem to lose respect for others after they “have a few”. They start at the mouth calling others fool and start biting if they don’t get what they want.

Will never be a samurai, cuz ga mann ga nai!

  4. scuddrunner says:

If Hawaiian wasn’t so tight on serving food they wouldn’t have this problem. Feed the passengers or they turn into cannibals.

    • samidunn says:

I thought that Hawaiian was the only one that still had a meal service.

      • makiki123 says:

They do serve meals during their flight. No excuse for this clown. I don’t know why only probation. I don’t care how he is usually is, but if that’s how he is when he’s drunk then it’s up to him NOT to drink. Since he chose to drink and cause Terror, then he should be put in jail for at least 30 days. Always some excuse or another to let a person get off easy.

    • BuhByeAloha says:

Another lame comment by scuddrunner. I’m convinced he is upset with Hawaiian Airlines becausese they wouldn’t’t hire him (or her) when Aloha Airlines went out of business. Now he bashes a wonderful airline from the security of his parents basement. Move on scuddrunner.

Rumor has it he went ape-$h!t after eating at Cafe 8 1/2. Must be that anti-Trump LSD sprinkles and shrooms in the pasta that made him go mad. 😉

Should be on the federal no fly list and was he checked for rabies?
