Nathaniel Zentkovich wasn’t one of our Keiki Kalikimaka finalists (his sister Chloe was), but we couldn’t resist his contest entry showing University of Hawaii Rainbow Wahine head coach Dave Shoji and volleyball players Kalei Greeley and Tayler Higgins with a Christmas tree.
The 8-year-old Mililani Mauka Elementary School student watches UH games on TV with his grandfather, Stanley Kurio. He said it was important to include Shoji, who announced Dec. 12 that he was taking a break from coaching to deal with prostate cancer.
“He’s putting the star on the tree because he has star players,” Nathaniel said. “And he was sick, so I wanted him to feel better.”
