Firefighters bring Maui brush fire under control
Maui firefighters are battling a brush fire in Olowalu today.
Maui Fire Services Chief Edward Taomoto of the Maui Fire Department said the fire near Ehehene Street started at about 8 a.m. Two fire helicopters also responded to conduct water drops.
Firefighters brought the fire under control and do not anticipate the need to shut down Honoapiilani Highway.
It’s unknown at this time whether the brush fire is threatening structures.

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for all islands due to strong tradewinds as strong high pressure builds north of Hawaii.

Winds of up to 20 to 30 mph are forecasted. Wind gusts of up to 50 mph primarily over mountain ridgelines and downwind of steep terrain.
The wind advisory is in effect until 6 p.m. today.
