Organizers of the 55th annual Nuuanu Valley Interfaith Thanksgiving Service are inviting the community to its
7 p.m. service Tuesday at the Soka Gakkai International Hawaii Culture Center auditorium, 2729 Pali Highway.
Entertainment will begin at 6 p.m., and community service booths will be open. Soka Gakkai is next to Nuuanu Congregational Church.
“Every year the members of the community come together to honor one another, celebrate our faith and common humanity, and declare our intentions to work toward a more peaceful society. … Through song, dance and dialogue, we aim to inspire our fellow community members to carry this spirit in their daily lives,” a news release said, adding organizers believe their event is the longest-running interfaith celebration on Oahu and possibly in the nation.
Giving a short address will be Tadia Rice, a member of the Knights of the Orthodox Order of St. John Grand Priory.
Besides Soka Gakkai, participating congregations include Baha’i Faith Hawaii, Community Church of Honolulu, First Unitarian Church of Honolulu, Harris United Methodist Church, Honpa Hongwanji Hawaii Betsuin, Nuuanu Congregational Church, Temple Emanu-El and United Church of Christ Judd St.
