Clinton campaign links Trump to leaked email rebuke of Gabbard

ASSOCIATED PRESS

Hillary Clinton’s campaign manager John Podesta, second from right, pauses while speaking with senior aide Huma Abedin aboard Clinton’s campaign plane while traveling to Miami, Tuesday for a rally.

Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign reiterated concerns on Thursday about ties between Donald Trump and Russia in light of hacked emails from the account of John Podesta, Clinton’s presidential campaign chairman.

The thousands of emails, published by Wikileaks on Monday, include an email from Clinton supporters to U.S Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, criticizing her for stepping down from the Democratic National Committee in February to support Bernie Sanders’ presidential bid.

“We now know the FBI believes the Russians are behind this hack and that a Trump campaign associate was back-channeling with Julian Assange,” said Clinton spokesman Glen Caplin, in response to questions about the Gabbard email. “On Day 5 of the WikiLeaks propaganda campaign the question is what did the Trump campaign know and when did they know it? The fact that Donald Trump refuses to condemn this intrusion by a foreign government, cheers it on, and even says it didn’t happen is yet another reason why he is unfit to be president of the United States.”

Caplin said the campaign is not confirming the authenticity of any individual emails.

Reporters have been mining thousands of emails from Podesta’s account that are easily searchable on Wikileaks’ web site.

In the Feb. 29 email to Gabbard, two Clinton supporters, including a former director of the Clinton Foundation, tell the Hawaii congresswoman that she has disrespected Clinton and not to expect any help from them in raising campaign funds.

“When we met over dinner a couple of years ago I was so impressed by your intellect, your passion, and commitment to getting things done on behalf of the American people. For you to endorse a man who has spent almost 40 years in public office with very few accomplishments, doesn’t fall in line with what we previously thought of you,” the email reads, in part. “Hillary Clinton will be our party’s nominee and you standing on ceremony to support the sinking Bernie Sanders ship is disrespectful to Hillary Clinton. A woman who has spent the vast majority of her life in public service and working on behalf of women, families, and the underserved.”

The email was then forwarded to Podesta and longtime Clinton aid Huma Abedin with the note “Hammed dropped!” — apparently meaning to write hammer.

Trump has denied any association with the hacked emails, while also relishing their release.

“I hope people are looking at the disgraceful behavior of Hillary Clinton as exposed by WikiLeaks,” he tweeted earlier this week. “She is unfit to run.”

““We now know the FBI believes the Russians are behind this hack and that a Trump campaign associate was back-channeling with Julian Assange,” said Clinton spokesman Glen Caplin, in response to questions about the Gabbard email.” Caplin refused to answer the questions about Tulsi Gabbard saying something stupid Russian involvement. Caplin should be fired. We want to know if this is a smear approved by Clinton. Clinton owes Gabbard an apology for the atrocious behavior of Caplin and her supporters. Heads should roll.

  2. poipoo says:

The email’s authors were obviously following an order from the Clinton campaign to “drop the hammer” on Tulsi for supporting Sanders over Clinton. The email was sent around the same time that there were coordinated personal and unfounded attacks against Tulsi on the web by Clinton supporters and paid trolls.

Shrillary has good reason to be nervous.

An increasing number of people are wising up to the fact that “scientific polls” can be converted to partisan harpoons to suppress opposition voter turn out. It all depends on WHICH “sample” is chosen and how the loaded questions are phrased.

What’s the lesser of two evils for a presidential candidate: a rude sexist, or a bullying liar? Both are bad, but I think the liar will do more damage if she’s in charge!

Rude sexist and bullying liar is exactly what the Cump is. It is amazing that his suppoters have such a
limited brain capacity just like the Chumpster whose brain is in the dumpster.

Trump voices and expresses a lot of violent sentiments. Sure to get us into a nuclear Third World War. Trump is a self-centered megalomaniac and behaves like a spoiled brat. He wants to see all of Hillary’s emails. Well the Russians, Putin, and Wikileaks are helping him to hack into the Democratic Party and Hillary’s emails. Somebody needs to hack into all of Trump’s tax returns. What is he hiding, if he is such an honest and truthful person as he claims to be

    • thos says:

Donald Trump has totally flummoxed the party of Gutless Obsequious Pantywaists.

These risk averse castrati have for so long been taking range and bearing to the nearest mouse holes to which they can repair should someone threaten to give them stink eye, they are utterly bewildered by the emergence of a street smart counter puncher who is the very embodiment of the Brits’ famed Special Air Service: WHO DARES, WINS.

Risk-averse Hillary is right to be nervous, despite having our so called “news” media in her pocket. Whether Rip Van America will awaken in time to seize power and save the Republic remains deliciously unknown.

This is nothing less than a titanic struggle between Good and Evil the outcome of which will determine whether our unprecedented 240 year old experiment in self governance here in The New World will shudder to a halt or continue well into the third millennium.

Freedom is not for the faint of heart.

  4. AhiPoke says:

Clinton has a $B campaign organization. They are capable of planning and implementing huge effort to discredit any of their “enemies”. If they do this to one of their own can you imagine the resources being spent to attack Trump. Yes, he’s an easy target but I’m sure they’ve had hundreds of staff spending the past 6+ months digging up dirt. This is the American political way.

  5. 64hoo says:

here we go again, asange leaking e-mails and Clinton campaign blaming the Russians with no proof, the reason there saying this about the Russians hacking is because what jay Johnson and maobama said a few months ago they want the federal to get involved with us americans voting, the reason if trump wins they will come up and say the Russians hacked into the voting system so they can stall from trump from taking the pledge before coming president, that’s what all this is about, keeping us distracted from the real problems, the liberals with mental disorders and the t.v. and news media keep spreading these lies. don’t fall for it. if Hillary wins this all goes away, thats why they keep bringing up this lame excuse of Russia hacking e-mails.

  7. kula says:

I’m glad that we’re hearing the dirty laundry for both sides. Clinton has a history of using public office to go after enemies. Trump sues his enemies also not a good sign. Trumps actions towards women is inexcusable. But we need to talk about other issues as well. We could be on the verge of war and we’re talking about the same kinds of thing Bill did. There are more important matters that also need to be discussed.

Obama & Clinton foreign policy has emboldened terrorists and Russia. Why aren’t isn’t there more being said about this! http://www.reuters.com/article/us-russia-usa-missiles-poland-idUSKCN12A14V

Clinton jeopardized national security by using a private server. FBI Agents unanimously voted to prosecute Hillary and it’s being covered up. http://www.patdollard.com/whistle-blower-comey-was-only-person-in-fbi-who-didnt-want-to-prosecute-hillary-rejected-every-agents-attorneys-decision/

If there is no accountability in government, our Bill of Rights, are meaningless. Russia’s and China’s bill of rights are just as promising as the US. The difference is that we have 3 parts of government that are supposed to hold each other accountable. We are moving towards a single party rule, which is exactly what Russia & China have.

Clinton and her supporters seem to consistently portray Trump supporters as unintelligent with “limited brain capacity” and other similar comments. How about just say they have a different point of view? Why demonize those who don’t agree with you? Isn’t it possible that someone can disagree with you without being stupid? Or racist? Or a bigot? Or________? (fill in the blank with your favorite insult).

    • Vector says:

Trump has consistently tried to demonize the Mexicans, the Muslims, Hillary (she’s a crook, lock her up), now the women who are accusing him of sexual assault.

More proof, as if any were needed, that liberalism is indeed a mental disorder.

To answer your question: yes, it’s possible – although not often apparent.

  9. CEI says:

More proof, as if any were needed, that liberalism is indeed a mental disorder. Her staff gets caught ruining yet another Clinton opponent and they blame Trump and the Russians. You can’t make this stuff up folks.

  11. davcon says:

The nerve of Hilliar to say she has concerns about the ties between Trump and the Russians. I think she forgot that when she was Secretary of State she brokered the Uranium deal with the Russians where they took over the Canadian mining company and brought Putin closer to his goal of controlling the Global Uranium supply and in return the Clinton Foundation banked $145 million along with the Canadian mining officials who became just as wealthy, it shouldn’t come to anyone’s surprise that the Canadians are huge donors to the Clinton Foundation. Uranium is used for nuclear weapons, Hilliar has put the american people at risk and is gambling with our lives. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out who is worse for our country. Whoever is behind the email leaks I would like to thank them for they have brought out what we have known all along but could not prove it, The Clintons and the Democratic machine are a bunch of criminals and a bigger threat to this country they should all be locked up for treason as they have sold us out for their personal gain.

  12. americantaxpayer says:

Unbelievable. First Clinton tried to drag Colin Powell into her illegal email scheme by blaming Powell. Now her camp is blaming Trump and the Russians for hacking her official government emails from her private, unsecured and illegal server. Any other citizen would have been found guilty and put in prison for handling highly classified materials from a private unsecure server located at home. This lack of judgement is akin to taking off in a airliner that hasn’t been certified for flight…..

  13. nalogirl says:

Who the heck cares who releases it! The fact of the matter is the Clinton campaign is corrupt and threatening to anyone that doesn’t do their bidding. Just wait for more. When will people be investigated about this rigged democratic nomination?

  14. Publicbraddah says:

It really doesn’t matter who leaked the email. The gist is that Clinton’s people pulled a power play on Gabbard for backing Bernie. I’m glad Tulsi stood her ground. This shouldn’t be about politics. It should be about our leaders actually helping to turn this country around.

    • bgrpph says:

Clinton did exactly the right thing. Sanders is not and has never been a Democrat, and a sitting Democratic House member was completely disloyal by backing him. I hope Clinton, as President, doesn’t give Tulsi the time of day

      • poipoo says:

You sound more like a Republican that a Democrat because that is exactly their feelings against Pres. Obama: make sure nothing gets done. No wonder people are turning away from the two-party system.

Bernie caucused with Democrats for years and held chair positions on important committees – put there by Democrats. They sanctioned his run against Clinton. We live in a free and democratic society and choosing who we want to lead us is part of that. Tulsi stated that she backed Bernie because he is against regime-change wars that Clinton has favored, and she felt he was the best choice for President. In spite of you and the other haters, Tulsi will weather this storm and continue to serve and represent Hawaii with Aloha.

it’s the perfect alibi to avoid answering any questions about the content of the emails.

claim the russians did it and trump was in on it.

the female felon will not address the truth of content but rather will be fussing about the russians.

the congenital liar should be told, it isn’t going to work. anyone cc’d will have copies of original emails on their servers and most likely forwarded emails to other parties like the media. someone is going to authenticate the newly released emails with copies of the originals.

nice try, for the female felon, but not everyone is a gruber voter.

  16. Kalaheo1 says:

Oh, so this disgraceful treatment of Tulsi Gabbard is somehow all Donald Trump’s fault.

Not buying it. You guys need to own this.

  17. CloudForest says:

Clinton was and is viscous to Gabby, how spiteful.

  18. st1d says:

besides initiating the claim that obama was not born in the u.s., the female felon’s campaign also dredged through obama’s past and questioned his father’s muslim religion, obama’s youth in muslim indonesia and obama’s use of cocaine, which he referred to as just a little blow.

no wonder the congenital liar claims russia is responsible for the leaks and therefore won’t address contents of the emails released.

  21. Ronin006 says:

The Clinton campaign and Democrats in general are in panic mode. They are trying very hard to divert attention from the damaging substance of the hacked emails by attacking the people who did the hacking, who incidentally are doing Americans a great service by exposing the corruption represented by the Clinton campaign and by the Democratic Party.
