The Mad Hatter from “Alice in Wonderland” costume was worn by 8-year-old Blaze Fefili. It was made with an orange wig ($4.99), boys’ black pants ($5.99), a blue top hat ($1.99), a scarf ($1.99), a vintage Tahari vest ($13.99), a women’s blue blazer ($9.99), faux Chuck Taylor shoes ($7.99), colorful striped socks ($1.97) and black gloves ($1.99). His mother, Jamie Kahalepuna, used fishing line to attach the spools of thread to the belt.

Avery Kam, 6, was transformed into the Disney character Maleficent. Her headdress was made by taking a devil-horns headband ($1.99) and wrapping it with black electrical tape. Her costume was put together using donated and new items including black sandals ($7.99), a purple ruffle skirt (3.99), a black Star Wars costume dress ($4.99), a witch cape ($2.99), purple netted gloves ($1.99) and a black decorated curtain rod for a scepter ($3.99). Some red lipstick from home completed the look.

Sophie Sandomire, 11, dressed up as a Harajuku girl. Her costume comprises red netted gloves ($1.99), leggings ($4.99), a white bob wig ($5.99), pink glitter shoes ($9.99), a red costume dress ($4.99), a pink panda bag ($4.99) and a red bow from a pair of Minnie Mouse ears ($3.99).

The costume worn by 4-year-old Ashton Reyes was made from an assortment of donated items — a boys’ white dress shirt with vest ($5.99), a women’s black cardigan ($7.99), boys’ black dress boots ($5.99), tie ($3.99) and glasses ($2.99). The jeans and wand were brought from home.

Eight-year-old Tristan Stephens got into character as a pirate. His costume was created using a pair of women’s black boots ($7.99); a women’s black dress shirt ($7.99); a pirate costume set with a red headband, hat and pants ($14.99); a sword ($1.99); and skull-and-bones keychains for accessories ($1.99 each)
