Expect humidity to increase as well as the chance of showers as moist, tropical air from the remnants of former Tropical Storm Ulika move over the state.
Most of what’s left of Ulika was about 300 miles southeast of Hawaii island on Sunday.
But tradewinds are blowing some rain clouds in front of Ulika over windward and mauka areas.
Locally breezy tradewinds will gradually decrease over the next couple of days as unsettled and rather wet weather develops across the state, the National Weather Service said. Showers were expected to increase in coverage and intensity overnight Sunday, with locally heavy rainfall possible through Wednesday, mainly over windward slopes.
“Localized heavy downpours appear increasingly likely during this time, and isolated thunderstorms cannot be ruled out. … The heavy rains will likely be somewhat spotty and not occurring all the time,” the weather service said
Drier and more stable conditions are expected to return late in the week.
Meanwhile, small craft
advisories remain in effect until at least 5 p.m. today for all channels and near-shore waters. Easterly winds are forecast to be 29 mph.
