It may be the middle of the pack, but the University of Hawaii at Manoa’s ranking of 169 out of 310 in the U.S. News and World Report’s 2017 Best Colleges rankings is worth a pat on the back.
The rankings are based on academic excellence, with schools rated on measures including graduation and retention rates; class size and ACT/SAT scores. Last year UH was ranked No. 161 out of 280.
Being in the top 100 at some point in the future would be something to shoot for, but what does it actually mean? A higher ranking indicates quality, of course, and could draw more students to UH — but ultimately, it falls on the individual student to make the most of any college education.
