Island Air completed 91.3 percent of its 1,119 scheduled flights on time in August with no cancellations, the company reported Friday.
The U.S. Department of Transportation counts a flight on time if it arrives within 14 minutes of its scheduled arrival time.
“Our Island Air team did a fantastic job this past month to ensure our overall operations ran as smoothly as possible during the busy end-of-summer travel period,” Island Air President and CEO David Uchiyama said.
Island Air, the state’s second-largest carrier, offers 238 flights each week between Oahu, Maui, Kauai and Hawaii island.
Caravan to celebrate Electric Vehicle Day
Gov. David Ige has signed a proclamation making today Electric Vehicle Day.
“The day is coming when most vehicles will be electric,” Ige said Friday in a statement. “While we are still early in the adoption process, electric vehicles are growing in popularity and the development of the infrastructure to support them is underway.”
There were 4,632 electric vehicles registered statewide as of August, according to the Hawaii State Energy Office.
Ige presented the proclamation to the Blue Planet Foundation. The nonprofit is putting on an “Electric Island Drive” event today.
Electric vehicle owners across the island will convene for a caravan drive through Honolulu. Interested owners can register online at ElectricIslandDrive.org or by contacting Blue Planet Foundation at info@blueplanetfoundation.org.
The event begins at 1 p.m. where participating owners will meet at preselected locations in Honolulu and Windward Oahu and will drive along routes that come together to pass through Waikiki. The caravan ends at Kapiolani Community College with a reception at 2 p.m., informational booths, gifts and prizes for participants.

Electra Meccanica Vehicles Corp. of Vancouver, British Columbia, officially unveiled the one-seat Solo on Friday. The Solo could go on sale as early as November pending approval by U.S. and Canadian regulators. It costs around $15,500.
