Fire destroyed a two-story dwelling on Alamihi Place in Waianae on Monday.
Ten Honolulu Fire Department companies with 32 personnel responded to the 11:24 a.m. emergency call and found the unoccupied structure engulfed in flames.
Part of the home collapsed while firefighters were battling the blaze from outside.
The fire was brought under control by 11:42 a.m. and fully extinguished by 12:26 p.m.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. No damage estimates are yet available, but the structure is considered to be a total loss.
Boy under investigation in jungle gym fire
A 14-year-old boy is under investigation for allegedly using a portion of a newspaper to set fire to a jungle gym set at Schofield Barracks.
A witness told police that three boys were playing by the jungle gym at Schofield Barracks around 5:30 p.m. Sunday and saw one of the boys lighting a piece of newspaper on fire that in turn caused a fire to the play set.
The case has been classified as first-degree arson. The case will be handled by Family Court.
