Alleged Waikiki pimp charged in brutal assault of prostitute
A 28-year-old alleged Waikiki pimp has been charged with breaking the bones of a prostitute who works for him and beating her until she lost consciousness.
Demarion Deminique Keyes, of a Lewers Street address, was charged Wednesday with first-degree assault, sex trafficking, and kidnapping.
He was being held at Oahu Community Correctional Center on $500,000 bail. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing today.
Police arrested Keyes at Honolulu Airport about 4:30 p.m. Monday as he allegedly tried to flee the islands.
The assault began when Keyes forced the woman into a taxi on the corner of Kalakaua and Seaside avenues about 11:10 p.m. Sunday, a police affidavit filed in District Court said.
Keyes took the woman to his home and dragged her into his apartment, telling her she was never going to stop working for him and that he would beat her if she tried to leave, the affidavit said.

Then, for about an hour, Keyes punched, slapped, and choked the woman and struck her with a belt, the affidavit said. The woman told police she lost consciousness during the beating.
When Keyes went into a bedroom, apparently in search of a bat, the woman ran out the apartment and began screaming for help, police said. Keyes fled before officers arrived.
The victim’s mother called police the next day, saying Keyes was at the airport, trying to leave the state. Police notified state deputy sheriffs who detained Keyes.
The victim was treated at Kaiser Moanalua Hospital for several fractures and internal bleeding. A doctor told police the woman sustained serious bodily injury, creating a substantial risk of death, the affidavit said.
The woman told police she was a prostitute and had been working for Keyes for 18 months. She said Keyes beat her because she wanted out of prostitution.

This is Hawaii, so he’ll probably get probation, and a deferred plea with his record expunged.
The charges carry mandatory 20 yr. terms (Kidnapping & Sex Trafficking).

Don’t want to sound like Trump but maybe after this pimp is tried, convicted and sent to Halawa or OCCC, some prison justice on this guy would be appropriate. Do NOT put this guy in protective custody.
PS: Shouldn’t the charges be changed to attempted murder given the Dr who treated her said the injuries inflicted on this woman could have caused her death?

PS: Entered in his name on an online search and someone with the exact same name has a arrest record in Arizona. This is one trend that Hawaii should NOT follow the mainland. When he is convicted do NOT send him to Arizona for prison but find a place to keep him in Hawaii. He will NOT have an easy time in either OCCC or Halawa.

You must be new to Hawaii or unfamiliar with our prison system. OCCC prisoners get good weather, TV, exercise equipment and kailua pig at least once a month. There is a prison in Arizona that only feeds criminals peanut butter and jelly sandwiches 3x’s a day. Our prisons are like 5 star resorts compared to Arizona. More better he be sent back to the mainland as he does not belong here.

You are right I did not have the pleasure of spending time in OCCC or Halawa but I will take your word that sending him to Arizona where they only serve peanut butter jelly sandwiches is worse. From what I saw on some reality channel of prison life, inmates join gangs or groups based on their race and figured if you are in a prison where there are not too many of your race, you will be in big trouble?
Punishment should fit the crime! Sell his a$$ and beat the living daylights out of him for an hour.
