A 29-year-old Nuuanu man faces trial in October for allegedly driving a car over his ex-girlfriend’s boyfriend, leaving tire marks on the victim’s back.
Albert Reimers of Barron Lane entered a plea in Circuit Court of not guilty during his arraignment Monday via closed-circuit video proceedings from Oahu Community Correctional Center, where he is being held, unable to post bond of $75,000.
Reimers is charged with second-degree attempted murder, two counts of second-degree criminal property damage and first-degree terroristic threatening.
His trial will begin the week of Oct. 10.
Police said Reimers got into an argument at a Waipahu park July 19 with his ex-girlfriend about her new boyfriend. She left the park, and Reimers rammed her van on Palahia Street in Makakilo, a police affidavit filed in District Court said. The 28-year-old victim got out of the van and argued with Reimers, who had also left his vehicle, police said.
Reimers went back into his car and allegedly ran over the victim, pinning him underneath the car. According to the affidavit, Reimers then told the victim, who was facedown, that he was going to kill him.
A third man assisted the victim, and Reimers fled the scene, police said.
The victim was treated at a hospital for injuries to his back, chest, face and side, and had tire marks on his back.
